Engines and Powertrain
Two powertrains, and the choice between them is mostly about how far you drive.
The standard engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four making 274 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 311 lb-ft of torque, held flat from 1,700 to 4,000 rpm. That torque plateau is the number that matters on the Route 61 grades north of the borough, where a loaded three-row has to pull hard and then merge. It runs through an eight-speed automatic on regular 87-octane fuel.
The Telluride Hybrid pairs the same 2.5-liter turbo with electric motors and a 1.65-kWh lithium-ion battery for a combined 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft, driving through a six-speed automatic. It is a conventional hybrid: it fuels up like any other Telluride and is never plugged in. It is also the quicker of the two on paper, by 55 horsepower.
| Powertrain | Gas | Hybrid |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 2.5L turbo GDI four | 2.5L turbo hybrid |
| Horsepower | 274 hp | 329 hp |
| Torque | 311 lb-ft | 339 lb-ft |
| Transmission | 8-speed automatic | 6-speed automatic |
| Fuel tank | 19.0 gal | 18.2 gal |
| Maximum towing | 5,000 lbs | 4,500 lbs |
Front-wheel drive is standard on the lower trims and all-wheel drive is a $2,000 step where it is offered. On the gas car the EPA rates front-drive models at 20 city, 26 highway and 22 combined, all-wheel drive at 18/24/20, and the X-Pro at 17/22/19. The hybrid is rated 34/36/35 in front-drive EX form, 32/34/33 as a front-drive SX and 30/32/31 with all-wheel drive (fueleconomy.gov). Kia puts the EX front-drive hybrid's total range at 637 miles.

The hybrid is offered in five of those: EX, SX, X-Line SX, SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige. Technology
Every trim gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless phone mirroring.
The standard infotainment is a 12.3-inch audio display with navigation and Kia's ccNC connected system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM and Bluetooth. LX and S pair it with a 4.2-inch driver cluster and an eight-speaker system. From SX upward the car gets dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays and a Meridian surround system with 14 speakers and a 10-inch subwoofer. Prestige trims add a 12.0-inch head-up display. Tri-zone automatic climate control is standard across the range.
Interior and Cargo
Three rows, seven or eight seats, and 22.3 cubic feet behind the third row.
The LX seats eight on a second-row bench. Every other gas trim and every hybrid seats seven in second-row captain's chairs. Second-row legroom measures 43.0 inches and the third row 32.1 inches, with 37.4 inches of headroom in row three regardless of which sunroof is fitted. Cargo runs 22.3 cubic feet behind row three, 48.7 behind row two and 89.3 with both rows folded. The hybrid gives up about a cubic foot at each measure.
Towing and Capability
5,000 pounds properly equipped on the gas car, 4,500 on the hybrid.
That covers a mid-size boat and trailer to the Blue Marsh Lake ramps, a pair of jet skis, or a small camper up US-209 toward Beltzville. A tow hitch is optional on LX through SX and standard on both X-Pro trims, and Tow Mode is standard on all ten. The X-Pro adds 9.1 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, front and rear recovery points and a Ground View Monitor that shows a composite view under the vehicle below 6 mph. Its roofline stands 71.5 inches tall, which is worth measuring against a garage door before you buy.
Safety
Ten airbags are standard, including a front-row center airbag.
Forward Collision Warning, High Beam Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Rear Occupant Alert and Smart Cruise Control with stop and go are standard on every trim. LX through EX carry Highway Driving Assist 1.5. SX and above step up to Highway Driving Assist 2.0 and add a Blind-Spot View Monitor and a Surround View Monitor, which are the two that change daily driving most in a vehicle this long.

Why Buy the 2027 Telluride at Outten Kia
Kia's coverage is the part that outlasts the sale, and on salted roads it matters. The powertrain warranty runs 10 years or 100,000 miles for the original owner, beginning when the 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty expires and covering the engine, transmission, axles and differentials. Basic coverage is 5 years or 60,000 miles, roadside assistance matches it, and the anti-perforation warranty runs 5 years or 100,000 miles. That last one is not a footnote on roads that carry brine from December through March.
Our lot sits on South Fourth Street, one exit off I-78 at Cabela's, which puts us inside a comfortable drive from Reading, Allentown, Lebanon and Quakertown. We stock both powertrains, so the gas and hybrid comparison can be made in the same visit rather than across two stores.
